Nathan's Charity Powerlifting Event
I took part in a charity powerlifting event at a local gym this past weekend. This is the first time I've done any powerlifting outside of the gym so it was new to me.
 
I'd done some practise lifts in the week leading upto the event which really effected my lifts on the day.
 
2 days before the event I did a 160kg bench press which is the most I've pressed before but pretty average.
 
I also did a 260kg and 280kg squat shown in the videos, these both felt comfortable and I think I could have got a 290kg. See the videos below for how I got...
Part 9 - Pulled Out of the UKBFF Leicester Bodybuilding Show
Unfortunately I will not be doing the UKBFF Leicester bodybuilding show in September now.
 
I'm really gutted I'm not going to compete but at the minute it's not financially viable for me to do so.
 
Also having 2 young children I think it would put unnecessary strain on my family as well, after all my kids will want me to be running around with them this summer playing a messing around, if I'm in the final stages of prep I don't want to sacrifice there happiness just because I don't have the energy because I'm dieting.

I've been dieting for around 4/5 weeks now and made some great progress.

My weight was 235lb and as of this morning is down to 221lb so a big loss if 14lb/6.4kg.

I have been strict with my diet but i'll admit not as strict as I could have been. I think it's because I know in about 6 weeks i'll be on my contest diet and will be 100% strict so want to enjoy a little junk food while I can.

I've noticed my strength and muscle endurance has dropped a little while being on lower calories but still getting in good workouts.

Part 7 - Nathan King’s Update - Time to Diet! Part 7 - Time to Diet!

Time to diet !! 

The time has come for me to start dieting and I'm really looking forward to the coming months. The contest I'm doing is around 30 weeks away so my plan is to do a nice steady diet for the next 10weeks, doing this will give me a better starting position for the prep diet.

So it will be 10-12 weeks steady dieting, 2-4 weeks high calorie consumption to get my metabolism up then into my proper 16 week prep diet.

I currently weigh 235lb/106.8kg so if I can loose 10-15lb over the next 10 weeks that's extra fat I won't have to loose in my prep. My macros are...

Things are starting to get very exciting for me now, I have my head in 5th gear and pushing hard in the gym.
 
The thought of doing a bodybuilding show and having a date set has really made me realise every training session, every meal counts toward how I will look on stage.
 
My contest preparation will start on Monday 6th of May giving me 17weeks. I plan to do a 16 week diet but want to be ready at lease 1 week out from the leicester show on 1st september, this means if im not ready i don't have to rush things in the last week.

Part 5 - Post Christmas Bodybuilding Diary Update

 

Christmas is over and now it's time to get serious again.
 
I've had a nice break from diet and training over the festive period and had some lovely food along the way. 
 
To be honest I didn't go to mad with junk food but had enough to kill cravings. Xmas/boxing day I had a cereal for breakfast then a big dinner in the afternoon and nibbled on biscuits and chocolate in the evening. 
 
It was actually nice to not worry about protein intake and being super strict and just enjoy the time off.
